Meet Travis Fortnum

Travis Fortnum grew up in the small town of Blackstock, Ontario where his love of storytelling — and his fascination with the nightly newscast — took root early. What started as curiosity about how stories were told became a lifelong passion for telling them himself.

He cut his teeth in two of Canada’s largest and busiest newsrooms — CTV News Toronto and CP24 — working as an assignment editor and writer. Those early years gave him a front-row seat to the fast pace and precision of major-market journalism and set the foundation for the career that followed.

Travis later moved to northern British Columbia to launch his on-air reporting career, learning the value of community storytelling and the power of connecting with viewers in smaller markets. From there he headed east to Saint John, New Brunswick where he reported through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — covering everything from breaking news to stories of resilience that defined life in the Maritimes.

Today, Travis calls Windsor, Ontario home where he reports, produces and anchors for CTV News Windsor. He regularly backfills producing the 6 p.m. newscast and steps into the anchor chair when needed — but his heart still lies in the field, chasing local stories that matter most to viewers.

A strong shooter, editor and writer, Travis is known for his ability to craft character-driven stories that inform, engage and leave an impression. No matter the deadline or the assignment, he brings integrity, creativity and genuine care to every story he tells.
